I have to say, I haven't been this excited since forever so forgive my posting every 2.5 seconds. Here is my newest ring in which I am combining my two favorite things: brass findings (I've been collecting since i was a teen - no biggie I finally get to use them!) and freshly cut plastic. I am taking a class at the tech shop this weekend to further explore lase possibilities. SO EXCITED. WOOT. ps. also forgive my blurry photo flicks. excuse: since i cant commit to deleting photos off the digital in fear of never being able to print them off my 1980s digital photo printer, my memory card is totes forever filled.
I probably shouldnt be posting this since its far from being correct, but im too excited at the thought of this dreamcatcher. It obviously needs a much thinner chain for the web but hey, im trying not to walk away from anything unfinished. I will take a chance take a chance on it tomorrow. Until then, I leave you with this beast: and this completed (approx. 4") beast:
If you want to see photos of how im starting to make my jewelry collection you can check out my flickr set. I'll be uploading more photos in the near future.
Ive disappeared the past few weeks into the basement to come up with a new project to keep me excited and here is a sneak peak. Introducing the bob dylan cameo and company. My lovely and talented bf's band Hollow Mirrors is playing a show at Adobe Books on November 5th with my great friend from childhood in his one man band Old Thunder Heart. If I was in the country I would most definitely be in attendance. Alas, Asia is calling me back for most of next month. Since the interweb is censored in China, I will be in touch in the near future. Until then; you are the best, no one is better than you.

Leslie Evans, who I must contact to tell her how much I freaked when i saw it, is a genius. Not only because the cake was amazing, but because the video she made along with it, blows my mind:

I just peeped the website for Tomomi. They are the Japanese bike company that I made the logo for a while back. My mind is blown how beautiful a job they did. Check out this little video and the website. This link is to the english translation site, which, i have to say, is pretty hilarious.
Last night I started a project involving my massive collection of glassess. 54 pairs! It took over three hours to photograph all of them. I also got my Threadless select shirt in the mail this afternoon. What a beauty! They really did a bang up job on the registration which usually poses a threat to most screen printers. Go HERE to purchase!

I Remember Andrea is a documentary about a high school reunion that BLOWS MY MIND. The most effing funny Andrea Wachner contacted me a little while back to help with a little animation in the film. This is what she has to say about the project:
I was immediately attracted to the funny premise of my documentary, but it was the grey area between belief and disbelief that made me fall in love with its story. When I tell people that I sent a stripper, as me, to my ten-year high school reunion, I am (with few exceptions) met with incredible enthusiasm, generous support, and a barrage of questions. The most consistent is, “Did you go down to the reunion at the end and expose the real you?” Absolutely not. If anything, I wanted to leave people wondering whether that was really me, or not. I guessed that some people would believe it, some people wouldn’t but most would be somewhat unsure. It was this “shadow of a doubt” I was most interested in. Could it be me? Does it matter? Do they care? There was a lot of unexplored ideological space between RSVP’ing ‘Yes’ and ‘No,’ between trying to impress your peers and removing yourself from judgment, and I seem to have found it. As a comedy writer, I believe that humor is powerful. Laughter is the best way that I know to get people to re-think what they think they think. With this film I was able to take a familiar situation—a high school reunion—which most people simply accept without question as a part of life, and turn it on its head, like the incongruous images in a Magritte painting, but funny.
Check out the trailer!
Andrea also has the funniest BLOG you should totes check out. You might pee your pants. I especially enjoyed the post on proposing an adoption to Steve Martin. woah.
coney island. verrazano bridge. europeian and 51oz in a plastic bottle. chance at the abandoned docks. chance fixing the derbi at the drag race. glasses faces. the new fabric horse storefront! lion king masks with mom. snakes and kenzaloo. ahhhh, the best.
I was chosen (!!!) to along with 7 other designers from SF to compete on February 28th, 2009 to win a shit ton of prizes. Obviously, it would be amazing if I could have some friends up in there to cheer me on. Here is what they about the SF challenge:
Sunshiney San Francisco wakes up to memories of gold-rushing crazes, rainbow-striped protests, and summers of love.
In its long history as a leading city on the Pacific, this old town’s been knocked down more than once—earthquakes and fires, bursting dot-com bubbles—and always gotten back on its feet. Today, the City by the Bay stands tall as a bastion of liberal attitudes, free spirits, and open arms. Hills nestled against lapping waves and streets bustling with geek savants, bon vivants, cosmopolites, and one of the largest creative communities in the world, San Francisco brings its fair share of aesthetic genius to the tournament.
San Francisco will host competitions in 2D, 3D, and Motion Graphics for Digital Design Tournament 2009.
To purchase tickets you can go here and look left for all the info and the link to buy the tickets. You can also email me to try to get the group rate and I can pair you up with some friends that will definitely be going.
